Man sentenced to probation for aggravated criminal sexual abuse

URBANA — A Fairmount man who admitted engaging in sexual activity with a young girl in Champaign County in 2011 has been sentenced to four years of probation.

James Rednour, 40, pleaded guilty in April to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, admitting conduct that occurred with a distant female relative under the age of 13 at a home in east Urbana during the summer of 2011.

The contact took place at the home of a mutual relative of Rednour and the girl and was brought to the attention of Champaign County sheriff's investigators by the girl's mother in October.

Judge Tom Difanis, who sentenced Rednour last week, also ordered him to register as a sex offender and get an evaluation for treatment.

Rednour had no prior criminal convictions.
