Tractor driver injured in weekend crash

FISHER — A rural Fisher man remained hospitalized Tuesday with injuries he received when his tractor was hit from behind by an alleged drunk driver early Sunday morning.

Champaign County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Sherrick said Harris Drennan, 72, was driving a 1951 tractor north on County Road 600 E about a mile north of Fisher at 12:02 a.m. when Tiffany Latham, 28, of Melvin, went to pass him in her pickup truck.

Sherrick said Latham's truck collided with the tractor and both vehicles then rolled over into the ditch on the east side of the road.

Both were taken to Carle Foundation Hospital by ambulance.

Latham was treated and released while Drennan was listed in good condition Tuesday.

Latham was ticketed for misdemeanor driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and driving with a suspended license.

She was told to appear in court on Aug. 23.

Sherrick said Drennan was headed home from the Fisher Fair when the accident happened.
