Event will help buy school supplies
URBANA — A fashion show this weekend will raise money for school supplies for local kids.
The show, which will benefit the Heavenly Seven, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center, 1401 E. Main St., U.
It will feature fashions from Dress Barn and hats from Gretchen Potter's collection.
Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the door. For questions about the fashion show, please call Dress Barn at 351-3023.
The Heavenly Seven is a group of citizens who sponsor community events, including a Thanksgiving dinner for senior citizens and a garden for students at the Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center.
This will also be the seventh year the group sponsors its school-supply giveaway for Champaign County students.
Members are hoping to give away school supplies for students of all ages and are accepting financial donations to buy things like backpacks, markers, crayons, thumb drives, glue bottles and sticks, pens, mechanical pencils, erasers, scissors, three-ring binders, epoxy, tissues, hand sanitizer, pencil pouches, wide-rule paper, composition books, colored pencils, zippered plastic bags, calculators, protractors, compasses, graph paper and copy paper.
Supplies can be dropped off at 613 N. Fourth St., C, or at the Urbana Neighborhood Connections Center. Donations can also be sent to P.O. Box 904, Champaign, IL 61820, to the attention of Heavenly Seven.
