Tolono pays for sled hill landscaping

TOLONO — The village is going to pay $6,400 to get grass growing on a new sled hill again.

The hill was created near a detention basin built for a drainage project in southeast Tolono last year.

Two heavy rains earlier this year cut erosion channels about every 10 feet, according to engineer Larry Johnson of Foth Infrastructure and Environment. Johnson said the landscaping subcontractor, Earth Care Unlimited Inc., offered to regrade and reseed the hill for the same price at which it was originally done if the order were placed before July 20.

The cost to perform those services on the 4-acre area was $3,600. The contractor will also mulch the area and then spike it into the ground for an additional $700 per acre.
