Fithian man killed in head-on collision on U.S. 150

ST. JOSEPH — A Fithian man was killed in a two-car collision in eastern Champaign County on Friday morning that left another woman injured.

Illinois State Police at Pesotum said the accident happened at 7:23 a.m. on U.S. 150 at the Glover overpass, just east of St. Joseph.

Police said James F. Davis II, 58, was westbound approaching the overpass when he veered into the path of an oncoming car driven by Colleen Shields, 55, of St. Joseph.

After Mr. Davis' Smart Car driver hit Shields' Ford Escape, his car kept going about 15 feet before it came to rest.

Mr. Davis was pronounced dead at the scene while Shields was taken by ambulance to Carle Foundation Hospital. Hospital officials had no information on her condition.
