Man sentenced to jail, probation for aggravated DUI plea

URBANA — A St. Joseph man who admitted he drove his pickup truck into a ditch while under the influence of alcohol has been sentenced to two years of probation.

Dustin Ikemire, 34, was also sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to aggravated DUI but was approved for electronic home detention.

He pleaded guilty before Champaign County Judge John Kennedy Friday, admitting that on March 2, 2012, he drove his truck into a ditch along County Road 2075 E in St. Joseph Township.

The conviction is Ikemire's third for DUI, said Assistant State's Attorney Elizabeth Dornik. She said his blood alcohol concentration that morning was 0.19 percent, more than twice the limit for an Illinois motorist to be presumed intoxicated.

He was also fined $3,500, ordered to perform 100 hours of public service and attend a victim impact panel.

Kennedy will confirm the sentence on Aug. 14 after Ikemire has completed a substance abuse evaluation.
