CHAMPAIGN — Parents of students in the Champaign school district can now go to the food service page on the school district's website to access the new online free and reduced-price meal and fee waiver applications.

The free and reduced meal applications must be filled out for students to receive waivers. New applications must be filled out each school year.
Parents who received a letter from the school district's food service department stating they were on the direct certification list do not have to fill out a new application and fees will be waived.
Parents can also check the status of their application 24 to 48 hours after completing it. This will tell them whether they are eligible for free meals, reduced meals or denied. They will also be able to print the status page for their records. This is days to weeks earlier than notification in the past.
The online application will allow parents to avoid lines at the food service table at Champaign's enrollment in the next few weeks.
