Man faces Class X drug charge over Ecstasy

URBANA — An Urbana man who allegedly had Ecstasy intended for sale at his home earlier this month is due back in court Sept. 17.

Blake L. Williams, 24, of the 1600 block of Willow Road, was arrested Friday on a warrant issued July 11 charging him with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Urbana police investigator Matt Quinley said the street crimes officers had been investigating Williams for a while in connection with the sale of "Molly," a purer, more potent form of Ecstasy. They did a court-authorized search of his apartment on Willow Road July 3.

Quinley said police found 53 doses of the drug, with a total street value of $1,060.

Because of the amount of the drug, Williams was charged with a Class X felony, meaning he faces six to 30 years in prison if convicted.

He remained in the Champaign County jail Tuesday in lieu of $100,000 bond.
