Deadline extended to apply for flood relief

The registration deadline for Douglas County residents and others in Illinois affected by severe storms and flooding in the spring to apply for relief has been extended.

FEMA announced Wednesday a 15 day extension to August 8th.

The Illinois disaster declaration issued after the floods covers 35 counties across the state, and to be eligible the damage from the storms had to occur between April 16th and May 5th.

Meanwhile, Governor Pat Quinn announced Wednesday that so far, nearly $190 million dollars in federal grants and loans have been approved to help people and businesses in those counties recover from the widespread flooding.
