Two charged in heroin case

URBANA — Two men who allegedly sold heroin to a man in Champaign Tuesday have been criminally charged.

Champaign police officer Jack Turner said police were doing a drug investigation in west Champaign Tuesday afternoon and were waiting for a person they thought might be coming with drugs.

Instead, Deantonio Lenoir, 22, of Chicago, and Levon Redding, 26, of the 300 block of Scottswood Drive, Urbana, showed up in a car to a business in the 2100 block of West Springfield Avenue.

Turner said police discovered 42 small bags that contained a total of seven grams of suspected heroin in the center console of the vehicle they were in.

The men were charged Wednesday with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony carrying penalties ranging from probation to four to 15 years in prison upon conviction.
