URBANA — A criminal charge alleging a Champaign man sexually molested a girl has been dismissed.
Louis Thursh, 51, who listed an address on Park Lane in Champaign, had been charged in late December with a single count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.
The charge was dismissed Tuesday at Judge Tom Difanis' monthly pretrial conference call.
"As the case progressed and more information came to light, I came to the conclusion that the case could not be proven," said Assistant State's Attorney Stephanie Weber. "The evidence that we would present would not have supported the charge."
Thursh had been free on bond since late December and had been represented by two different private attorneys during the course of the case, according to court records.
