Urbana man's iPhone taken in holdup

URBANA — An Urbana man was robbed of his iPhone early Monday morning.

The victim, who's 21, was near the basketball courts about 12:50 a.m. at the Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton St., U.

He was approached by three young men, one armed with a handgun, said Urbana Police Lt. Bryant Seraphin. The armed man demanded the victim's property.

The gunman was described as a black male, about 18 years old with medium build wearing a black shirt and basketball shorts, holding a black handgun. Urbana police had no detailed descriptions for the other two young men.

The victim's iPhone was the only thing stolen, Seraphin said, and no one was injured.

I wonder if the thieves are smart enough to keep the power off until they've erased the hard drive. Otherwise, the iPhone is the perfect homing device for cops.
