Man charged in bank robbery

An Urbana man has been formally charged in connection with a bank robbery in Champaign on Wednesday.

In court Thursday, 26 year-old Kaleb Shields was charged with one count of aggravated robbery.

He allegedly entered the Central Illinois Bank on Springfield Avenue, implied that he had a weapon and demanded money.  He fled the scene with cash but was caught up to by police minutes later.

Shields' bond was set at $50,000.  He's due back in court on August 9th.
