GEORGETOWN — Faith in Action South is hosting an event to recruit new volunteers.
A volunteer luncheon and fair will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 21 at Wanda's Restaurant on the Georgetown square.
It is open to the public, as well as all past and current volunteers.
Reservations are suggested but not required.
Program staff and current volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions. Volunteers also will share stories about their work.
Faith in Action South is an outreach ministry of the Presence United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation. It serves adults 60 and older in southern Vermilion County.
Volunteers are needed to take seniors to medical appointments. Volunteers drive their own vehicles, are covered by supplemental insurance and have the option to receive mileage reimbursement.
Volunteers are also needed to help provide respite care, chores and minor home repairs. Skilled volunteers in wheelchair-ramp building are also needed.
Volunteers receive a one-hour training/orientation and can choose days and times to volunteer. There is no minimum required number of volunteer hours.
