VA director leaving Danville

DANVILLE — The director of the Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System based in Danville is leaving for a new post in Lexington.

Director Emma Metcalf has accepted the director's position at the Lexington VA Medical Center, effective Aug. 25, according to a news release Thursday from VA. Metcalf became the Illiana director on March 11, 2012.

"I have valued my time here and I will miss all that Illiana represents. As with any special place, it is the people who make it and it will be those I will miss the most," said Metcalf in the news release.

Prior to her time at the Danville VA, Metcalf was the chief operating officer at the Alvin C. York Campus of the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.

"I leave VA Illiana Health Care System with great confidence in the people here; knowing that they are capable of overcoming any hurdles that they will face, individually and more importantly together," Metcalf said in the release. "Personally I have a special bonding with all our employees and I shall take away with me cherished memories of our times together."
