Contract awarded for paving project at Willard

CHAMPAIGN — Cross Construction, Inc. of Urbana has been awarded the contract for a parking pavement rehabilitation project at the University of Illinois Willard Airport.

The $841,482 project involves the rehabilitation of the airport's entrance roadways and the old terminal parking lot. The Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Aeronautics will manage the project.

The project had been announced earlier this year as part of the state's 2013 state-local airport improvement program. It involves blending state, university and Federal Aviation Administration funds for roadways and parking lots near the old airport terminal and near the Flightstar facility. The roads and lots are used by the FAA, the Institute of Aviation, Flightstar and the airport's fire department, airport officials said.
