Aggravated criminal sexual abuse brings 4-year probation

URBANA — A Mahomet man who admitted he sexually molested a young girl has been sentenced to four years of probation.

Daniel L. Futia, 40, whose last known address was in the 100 block of Randolph, pleaded guilty Monday before Champaign County Judge Harry Clem to aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The charge, lodged more than a year ago, alleged that Futia had sexual contact with the girl, who was under 13 at the time, some time between Sept. 1 and December 2011. Champaign County sheriff's investigators said Futia knew a relative of the girl.

In exchange for his guilty plea to that criminal count, a second alleging sexual contact with that girl's sister was dismissed. Futia was also fined $500.

Assistant State's Attorney Lindsey Clark said Futia had prior convictions for criminal trespass to land, theft and battery.
