Events scheduled to help with adoption costs

Here are three upcoming fundraisers the Sookarry-Hurley family are holding to help pay for costs associated with bringing three Mauritian children they plan to adopt to the United States:

— Aug. 24. An authentic curry dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church, 3613 N. Vermilion St., Danville.

The cost is $12 for adults, $7 for kids ages 7 to 12, and children 4 and under eat for free.

The dinner features a full chicken or vegetable curry with rice, onion pakora and coffee or tea.

There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction of art donated by local artists and gift certificates and other items donated by local businesses.

— Sept. 14. Another curry dinner will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Eastern time (4 to 7 p.m. Central time) at St. Joseph Church, 308 Pearl St., Covington, Ind.

The details are the same as the Aug. 24 dinner.

— Sept. 22. A cocktail picnic will be held from 12 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 22 at the historic Peterson Mansion, 1511 N. Vermilion St., Danville.

The cost is $25 for adults, and $10 for children 12 and under.

The picnic includes lunch, dessert and cocktails of wine and beer.

There will be music from Mike's Karaoke and DJ Service and a tour of the grounds.

Donations also can be made to the Sookarry Family Adoption Fund at Old National Bank in Danville.
