Danville hospital puts two new areas on display

DANVILLE — Presence United Samaritans Medical Center is inviting the public to see two new areas of the hospital from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Aug. 23.

On display will be a newly completed clinical decision unit of the emergency department — an area in between discharge and admission for patients who need extended observation or more evaluation before a decision is made to discharge or admit them.

Also on display will be the new rehabilitation department, which was relocated to make way for the clinical decision unit.

The cost of both projects totaled about $875,000, with about one-third paid for through local fundraising, according to hospital spokeswoman Gretchen Yordy.

There will be a blessing ceremony at 2:30 p.m. in the clinical decision unit on the ground level, then an open house in both new spaces with light refreshments served.

The event is free.
