Sidney OKs three-way stop

SIDNEY — A three-way stop is being placed at the intersection of Sunset Road and Austin Drive.

The stop signs are meant to deter speeders. There is a stop sign on Austin Drive, but none on Sunset Road, which is popularly used as part of a route to and from Philo.

Bryce Smith, a resident of the 700 block of South Sunset, told the village board Monday that although the speed limit in the area is 25 miles per hour and there are signs asking drivers to slow down for children playing, many drivers speed. Smith said about 16 children live within a 50-yard radius of his home and expressed concern for their safety.

There will also be a sign warning drivers traveling north on Sunset Road about the sign ahead.
