Savoy to patch pavement at fire department

SAVOY — A significant amount of pavement patching is expected to begin on Aug. 19 at the Savoy Fire Department parking lot and entrance.

Stark Excavating of Champaign was the low bidder for the project, which is not to exceed $100,000. The bid for the work was $89,852.

The project will entail replacing roughly a third of the parking lot and entrance. It is being done in phases so only two of the fire station bays will be out of service at one time.

The concrete is being replaced with 8-inch thick concrete with a 4-inch base in order to be able to support the weight of the fire trucks.

In other news, village officials expect Emma's Eatery in the Savoy Plaza to be opening soon.
