Ameren: Power to be restored by 10 p.m.

CHAMPAIGN - Ameren expects power to be restored to electric customers in Champaign by 10 p.m.

Ameren spokesman Kenny Blum said that a transmission line that feeds into the Kraft Foods substation off Mattis Avenue went out at 8:25 p.m. Monday.

More than 4,100 electric customers were affected.

Champaign police have been putting up temporary stop signs in an area north of Springfield, east of Mattis, south of Bradley and west of Prospect.

Ameren doesn't know the cause of the outage, but Blum said Ameren crews are working to bring in power from the Bondville substation.
