Gibson City man faces additional charge in fatal fight

A second-degree murder charge has been filed against a Gibson City man who allegedly punched another man last month, with the victim dying eight days later.

Thirty-four year-old Ryan Nibbe was in Ford County Court on Monday to face the voluntary manslaughter charge. He's already facing two aggravated battery charges in connection with the incident and also had his bond raised to $400,000 during his appearance Monday. He is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on Sept. 24.

This all stems from a fight between Nibbe and 44 year-old Timothy Robertson in Gibson City last month. Robertson later died at an Urbana hospital. The Champaign County coroner said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
