RANTOUL — School board member Katie Carver resigned from her position effective Aug. 8, and the board announced this week it has to find her replacement soon.
Carver, who was elected in April, accepted a job promotion in Texas. She and her family moved there earlier this month.
"The move was beneficial to Katie and her family," Superintendent Scott Amerio said.
Amerio told the board it has 45 days from the date of the resignation to appoint a new member. If one can't be found in that time, then the regional superintendent will appoint someone to fill the vacant seat.
"I don't see that happening," Amerio said.
Whoever is appointed will serve until the April 2015 municipal election.
Amerio said responsible and qualified individuals must live in the district and submit a letter of interest to the district office by Aug. 27. In the letter, the board will look for the number of years the candidate lived in the district, educational background, job history, educational involvement and any prior experience with boards.
Interviews will be conducted the first week of September, and the potential seating is scheduled for the Sept. 9 meeting.
