Common Ground event to benefit food bank

URBANA — The Common Ground Food Co-op will host its second annual Ice Cream Social from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with all proceeds going to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank.

Guests may build their own ice cream sundaes with Kilgus Farmstead ice cream. Common Ground asks that each guest make a donation to the food bank; the amount will be left to the donor.

During the event at Common Ground, 300 S. Broadway Ave. #166, U, on the east side of Lincoln Square Village, the Church Street Ramblers will perform, and kids' activities such as face painting, balloon art, hula hooping and table-side magic will be offered..

The Common Ground's first Ice Cream Social raised $900 for the No Kid Hungry national campaign. Common Ground hopes to raise $1,200 for Eastern Illinois Foodbank; that's the equivalent of 2,590 meals.
