Property owners plan appeal of Ameren transmission line

A group of property owners in East Central Illinois said it plans to appeal the decision by the Illinois Commerce Commission on the Ameren Transmission line.

Commissioners approved the line on Tuesday.  It'll run from Missouri to Indiana, passing through Coles, Douglas, Edgar, Moultrie and Piatt Counties.

Russ Dukeman is a member of a group of Douglas and Piatt County property owners who have fought against the transmission line.  He said that the group will ask the ICC for a rehearing on the project, and that they'll likely propose an alternate route as a part of that process.

Dukeman said if the appeal fails, the group will consider taking their case to court.
