Updated: No injuries in Thomasboro barn fire

THOMASBORO — No one was hurt, but a barn was a total loss after a brush fire got out of control Saturday afternoon.

Thomasboro firefighters were called to 2303 CR 1100E around 12:44 p.m. Sunday — when they arrived, they found a “good-sized” barn on fire, said Thomasboro Fire Chief Paul Cundiff.

He said the homeowner was burning a brush pile when the barn caught fire. The property damage is estimated at $3,000 to $5,000, Cundiff said. Other buildings nearby were unharmed.

Firefighters from Savoy, Rantoul, Edge-Scott, Cornbelt, Eastern Prairie and Carroll fire protection districts were called to assist.
