Autopsy on Millikin student inconclusive

The Macon County Coroner has released preliminary autopsy results in the death of a student at Millikin University in Decatur.

Coroner Michael Day said the cause of death for 19 year-old Amanda Puckett of Orland Hills is undetermined.

Puckett, a sophomore at Millikin, was found unresponsive in her dorm room at around 8:15 Sunday morning.  She was pronounced dead about an hour later at a local hospital.

Day said final autopsy results are pending further test results.  But he added there is no criminal investigation underway, and that there are no apparent signs of violence.

Millikin students, faculty and staff have been encouraged to utilize the campus resources available to help them deal with Puckett's death.
