Workshop to highlight school initiatives

URBANA — A free workshop about the many new initiatives in the public schools and their effect on children is scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Urbana Free Library Auditorium, 200 W. Green St., U.

Kevin Seymour, director of SchoolWorks at the Regional Office of Education, and Jeri Callaway, Illinois Response to Intervention instructional leader in the East Central Illinois area, will examine the current educational initiatives and how they affect children.

One major focus of the workshop will involve looking at how teachers, parents and administrators can work together to understand how individualized approaches under the Response to Intervention initiatives can result in improved instruction.

The workshop is being organized by Linking Educators and Parents, a study group serving East Central Illinois and is open to teachers, parents and the public.

Those who are coming are asked to email Marilyn Kay at mfkay@sbcglobal.net. Continuing Professional Development Units are available for educators through the Regional Office of Education. When you register, please include your full name and school for credit.
