Champaign man faces cocaine charge

URBANA — A Champaign man who allegedly had cocaine intended for sale when he was arrested Friday is due back in court Oct. 8.

Laneil Bradley, 24, who listed an address in the 400 block of Briar Lane, was criminally charged Monday with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, a Class 1 felony. If convicted, he faces a mandatory prison term of 4 to 30 years.

A Champaign County sheriff's deputy's report said that a source working with investigators had ordered four grams of crack cocaine from Bradley on Friday.

When Bradley arrived at the location they agreed on in the 500 block of West Clark Street in Champaign, police found that he had about 11.7 grams of crack cocaine concealed in his buttocks.

Of that amount, police said there were 19 individually packaged bags weighing 3.7 grams and one bag weighing about 8 grams.

Bradley is being held in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
