Repairs move forward in Westville

WESTVILLE — Village officials say they would pursue repairs to a sinking section of sidewalk in the 300 block of Maple Street in the coming weeks.

Mayor Mike Weese said that the problem may be the result of a broken storm sewer beneath the sidewalk, but a root cause of the problem has not yet been found.

Village workers are also looking into a section of storm sewer near the village square that may also be blocked.

In other business, Westville Village Board members voted to have Daughhetee & Parks of Danville audit the village financial books for the 2012-13 fiscal year, at a cost of up to $8,750.

Board members also learned that there will be one more free movie shown in Zamberletti Park this year. The Westville Parent-Teacher Organization will sponsor a showing of "Despicable Me" at about 8 p.m. on Sept. 14.
