Roberts under boil order

ROBERTS — A boil order remained in effect late Wednesday afternoon in Roberts, after workers replacing water mains accidentally cut a water line in an alley, prompting the village to shut down its water tower temporarily.

The water-main break occurred late Wednesday morning in the west end of the alley between Green and Weldon streets, Village Board President Rick Flessner said.
Water service has been restored to all residents, but the boil order will not be lifted until after samples are tested.

Until then, customers should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice. That will kill any bacteria or other organisms that might be present in the water.

To properly boil water, bring it to a boil, let it boil for one minute, then let it cool before using.
