United Way of Champaign County ups fundraising goal

The United Way of Champaign County has once again upped its fundraising goal as its 2013 campaign gets underway.

The group announced last month that it topped its goal for 2012 of $3.3 million.  And now, the United Way's President and CEO Sue Grey said the goal this time around is being increased to $3.4 million.

Grey made the comments Thursday on the WDWS Morning Show.

Meanwhile, United Way staffers will be at Hessel Park in Champaign until 7 p.m. Thursday for their campaign kickoff event.  They'll be taking donations to give to local non-profit groups, and there will also be family entertainment starting at 4 p.m.

Grey said officials are looking to take in more than 100,000 donated items at Thursday's event.
