T-storm watch until 10 p.m. Saturday

At 3:52 p.m. Saturday, the National Weather Service radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Rantoul moving east at 20 mph. Penny-size hail and winds around 50 mph are expected.

Locations impacted include Rantoul, Thomasboro, Gifford, Ogden, Potomac, Fithian, Dewey, Flatville, Penfield, Royal, the Middle Fork Wildlife area and Collison.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Saturday for 27 counties in Central Illinois including: 

Champaign, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas,  Edgar, Vermilion, Christian,  DeWitt,  Logan, Macon, Mason,  McLean, Menard, Moultrie, Piatt, Sangamon, Shelby, and Tazewell.


Counties in south Central Illinois affected include: Clay and Effingham.
