Work planned on University, Springfield avenues

CHAMPAIGN — Workers will be rehabbing two major routes through Champaign and Urbana this week.

Starting Tuesday, the Illinois Department of Transportation will do crack routing and sealing work on University Avenue between Wright and Race streets in Urbana and on Springfield Avenue between Prospect and Mattis avenues in Champaign, according to a press release.

The project will involve lane closures and flaggers for traffic control, and side-street intersections will be temporarily closed as the moving operation goes by. The work is expected to take two or three days, and IDOT expects that work will first occur on University Avenue, and then Springfield Avenue.
