Sheriff's office looking for disabled Bement man

BEMENT — The Piatt County sheriff's office is looking for a 52-year-old, mentally-disabled man who has gone missing.

Kirk L. Becker lives alone in Bement and was last seen in Monticello in mid-August. His mental disability requires medication, according to a Piatt County sheriff's office news release.

He was last seen riding his black mountain bike on Old Route 47 north of Lodge Park in Monticello. At the time, he was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans and did not have any other items with him.

According to a news release, police have checked the Lodge Park area and other areas Becker is known to frequent without success. Police took the missing person's report on Aug. 23.

Becker is a white man, 5 feet 8 inches tall with short brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone who might have information about his whereabouts should call the Piatt County sheriff's office at 217-762-5761.

Becker enjoys camping, according to a news release, but it is unknown if he is camping anywhere at this time.
