Crash on I-74 injures driver of semi

DANVILLE — A semitrailer truck accident on Interstate 74 on Monday injured the driver and blocked both westbound lanes, according to the Illinois State Police.

Justin J. Watson, 22, was westbound on I-74 at 11:54 a.m., driving a 2006 Freightliner semi that was hauling lumber on a flatbed trailer. Just east of the Gilbert Street and Georgetown Road exits south of Danville, the semi drove into the median then back onto the westbound lanes, where it overturned onto its driver's side and came to rest across both westbound lanes, blocking westbound traffic until police and tow vehicles could clear the scene of the accident.

Watson was removed from the truck and taken to Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, according to state police. Watson was ticketed for improper lane use.
