Conditions on property still concern VG neighbors

VILLA GROVE — After intervention from the city and several state agencies, water service has been restored to the small mobile home park at the corner of Third and Elm streets.

However, residents and neighbors are still worried about conditions at the property. The large trench that was dug to uncover the broken water line is still open and a danger to residents.

A neighbor questioned the city council on what was being done to follow up on the situation.

Mayor Terry Harbin reported that the city and state have both filed citations against the owner, William Fosser of Urbana. The matter is now being handled by the state's attorney's office, according to Harbin.

Alderman Bob Stipp added that the city can't do much more about the condition of the trailers or the property. Harbin said he would call Fosser and give him 24 hours to get the trench covered.
