Farmer City shooting victim showed up at store

FARMER CITY — A gunshot victim sought help at the Huck's convenience store in Farmer City on Sunday night, and DeWitt County sheriff's deputies have a "person of interest" in custody.

"There is one victim being treated at Carle for a gunshot wound," said Sheriff Jered Shofner, adding the victim showed up at Huck's, 925 E. Clinton Ave., about 9:17 p.m. Sunday. A manager there said the shooting did not occur on the premises.

Shofner said in a press release Monday morning that there appears to be no connection between this shooting and a homicide Saturday in Farmer City.
