Fire damages vacant Danville house

DANVILLE — State and local fire officials are investigating a fire that damaged a vacant house early Wednesday morning.

Danville firefighters were called to a house fire at 2605 Cannon Street at 2:43 a.m. When they arrived, fire was coming out of one of the windows of the one-story wood-frame structure, Lt. Brian Smith said.

Smith said firefighters had the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes. He also said they managed to keep it from spreading to the house next door.

Smith said the house was unoccupied, and no one was injured during the incident.

No cause has been determined yet. Danville fire officials and the Illinois State Fire Marshal's office is investigating.
