Smoking cessation program to be offered at DACC

DANVILLE — Danville Area Community College is offering the Freedom From Smoking program, developed by the American Lung Association.

Classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 17 through Oct. 29 at the Bremer Conference Center at DACC, 2000 E. Main St. The cost is $50.

The program will be taught by instructor Jason Assad. It provides a small-group setting for adults to work through the quitting process. According to the American Lung Association, participants will learn about medicines that can help stop smoking, lifestyle changes that make quitting easier and more. Nicotine replacement therapy will also be available to participants free of charge to help increase success.
