Man arrested for burglary from a truck in Champaign

URBANA — A Markham man is being held at the Champaign County Jail following his arrest Monday morning in connection with a burglary from a truck.

Robert K. Gassaway, 19, was charged Monday with two counts of felony counts of burglary and one count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

According to a Champaign police report, a man allegedly saw Gassaway running away from the cab of his truck in the 500 block of East Green Street with his duffel bag at 4:05 a.m. Monday.

The bag contained medicine, two GPS systems and clothing, police said.

Police then caught and arrested Gassaway. Police had no information on Monday about where Gassaway was arrested.

Judge Richard Klaus set Gassaway's next court appearance for Nov. 9.
