Man pleads guilty in theft from Walmart

URBANA — A Sidell man who admitted stealing cash from the Walmart store on High Cross Road in Urbana where he was working has been sentenced to a year of probation.

Aaron Devore, 27, pleaded guilty Tuesday to theft, admitting that between June 14 and July 20, he rang up false returns and pocketed the cash.

He was ordered to make restitution to the store of $2,000.

Assistant State's Attorney Stephanie Weber said a loss prevention officer noticed that Devore was processing extra returns without receipts and looked into them.

Devore has prior convictions for possession of cannabis and domestic battery, Weber said.
