Man robbed in Urbana

URBANA — Police are investigating the robbery of an Urbana man Tuesday evening.

According to a police report, the man was walking in the 1900 block of Michigan Avenue, Urbana, at about 8 p.m. when he became aware of two people following him.

As the man continued to walk, the two men caught up to him and began to hit him with their fists and tried to pull off his backpack.

After a struggle, the attackers took the backpack, which contained two computers, and ran away.

The victim was not physically injured, according to police.

One attacker was described as black, 15 to 20 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build and a short haircut. He was wearing a white T-shirt.

The second attacker was described as black, 15 to 20 years old, 6 feet tall with a thin build and a short haircut. He was wearing a white T-shirt and shorts.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Urbana Police Department at 384-2320 or Champaign County Crimestoppers at 217-373-8477.
