Champaign Mayor Don Gerard settles civil case with Laura Huth

The mayor of Champaign has settled a small claims case filed against him by his former girlfriend.

Attorneys for both sides appeared in court Thursday to announce that a financial settlement had been reached between Mayor Don Gerard and Do Good Consulting owner Laura Huth.

The money was for consulting work that Huth had performed for Gerard during his campaign for mayor in 2011. The amount of the settlement was not disclosed.

Gerard's Attorney Bruce Ratcliffe says his client is happy with the outcome of the case.

Huth's Attorney Michael Antoline says the settlement allows both sides to move on with their lives.

Thursday's proceeding was the last open case between Gerard and Huth after Gerard agreed to a no-contact order in late June.
