Training offered on diversity

URBANA — The Human Services Council of Champaign County will offer a day of professional training in diversity and cultural competency.

The training day, called Cultural Competency Cafe, will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Urbana Civic Center, and is open to anyone interested, the council says.

It will offer an opportunity for participants to train in a range of diversity and cultural competency fields that relate to challenges in today's workplace and social service settings.

Included will be presentations, break-out sessions, a workshop and a panel discussion. State Rep. Naomi Jakobsson, D-Urbana, will deliver the opening remarks,

The training will provide four continuing education units for a range of professions. The cost is $35, plus $10 for continuing credit units. A catered lunch is included.

Registration is limited to 100 people.
