Unemployment rate drops slightly in Champaign-Urbana

The unemployment rate in Champaign-Urbana saw a slight drop last month compared to the month before last.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security said last month's rate was 8.3%, compared to 8.9% in July.  The August rate is also down from the rate seen in August of last year, when it was 8.9% as well.

Elsewhere, Danville's unemployment rate last month checked in at 11.3%.  Decatur's rate is the state's highest at 12%.  The Davenport-Moline-Rock Island area has the state's lowest unemployment rate at 6.5%.
