Women robbed at Champaign motel

CHAMPAIGN — Champaign police are investigating the robbery of three women at a Champaign motel Wednesday afternoon.

According to Champaign police spokeswoman Rene Dunn, the holdup occurred about 12:16 p.m. at the Days Inn, 1019 W. Bloomington Road, C.

Dunn said two men knocked at the door of a room where three women were present. The women let the men in.

Once inside the room, one of the men raised his sweatshirt to show them he had a handgun in his waistband.

The men then took a purse with cash, identification and debit cards and ran from the motel on foot.

Both men were described as being black and in their 20s.

The man with the gun was wearing a white hoodie and a mask over his face like a nylon stocking. The other man was described as being thin, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He had a small Afro and was last seen wearing a dark zippered hooded sweatshirt.

None of the women reported injuries. Police believe that they were specifically targeted by the robbers, Dunn said.
