No injuries in Champaign fire

CHAMPAIGN — No injuries were reported in a fire Saturday afternoon at a home in southwest Champaign.

Fire investigators remained on the scene Saturday evening at 2106 Sumac.

Firefighters were called to the 1-1/2 story home at 4:10 p.m., according to Lt. Chuck Sullivan. They found moderate smoke and fire on the east side of an attached garage.

The fire was extinguished shortly before 4:30 p.m.

In addition to the damage in the garage, the fire got into the home's attic, Sullivan said.

No cause or damage estimate was available on Saturday evening.
