Part of Sixth Street to be closed for tower work

CHAMPAIGN — A portion of Sixth Street in Champaign will be closed for about three days while a work crew assembles and erects a tower for the new high-rise building at 519 E. Green St.

Sixth Street will be closed between Green and John streets beginning at 7 a.m. Friday.

The street is scheduled to re-open by 8 p.m. Oct. 6.

Through traffic will not be allowed in the area, and all parking spaces and loading zones on the block will be inaccessible during the closure.

All lanes of Green and John streets will remain open during the project.
